The XT1200ZE Super Ténéré inherits the spirit of the legendary Ténéré models that drove an era of Yamaha dominance during the 1980s and ’90s in the Dakar Rally, widely known as the world’s most demanding endurance rally. But takes it one-step further again with all-new Electronic Suspension offering up to 84 different settings.

The Super Ténéré is designed to achieve a high-level balance of the qualities riders want in an intercontinental long-distance touring, including:

• Unmatched long distance capability
• Excellent dirt road performance
• Light and agile cornering on mountain roads

To realise the three qualities mentioned above, the engine and chassis were designed from scratch with developmental efforts focused on a centralised of mass chassis design, lower centre of gravity and the desired level of front wheel weight distribution.

Powered by a newly developed liquid-cooled 4-stroke 1199cc in-line twin cylinder engine, the Super Ténéré bristles with new control technologies aimed at offering outstanding long-distance touring performance.

The in-line twin-cylinder engine with a 270-degree crankshaft and 4-valve DOHC head sports a side-mounted radiator that contributes to centralisation of machine mass and mounted on a new frame. Also, the YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) seen on Yamaha Supersports machines now has traction control and a function enabling the rider to select running modes.

Other state-of-the-art technologies like a 3-position ABS system and a Unified Brake System are added to realise a higher level of touring performance. And now for a first in the XT1200Z range, Electronically Controlled Suspension comes standard on this special edition model.

Easy-to-adjust electronically adjustable suspension

The XT1200ZE’s electronically adjustable suspension enables the adventure rider to make instant suspension adjustments while on the move. This easy-to-operate system is controlled by a multi-function handlebar-mounted switch and offers a total of 84 different settings to suit every road and off road riding situation.

YCC-T with 3-stage traction control

Choose how you want to ride and get on the gas with confidence. The Super Ténéré features advanced Yamaha Chip-Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) technology with 3-stage traction control that can be turned off when it's time for a little rear-wheel steering in the dirt. The bike also has switchable Yamaha D-MODE engine mapping. The display also integrates information regarding current Electronic Suspension settings.

Shaft drive inline 2-cylinder engine - 270-degree crank

Tear up tarmac and move mountains of sand with 1199cc of effortless, 270-degree inline 2-cylinder grunt. Big, flexible torque meets 110PS of quick-revving power in a big-bore engine that's mounted low in the frame for sharper handling.

Sweet handling

Sweet handling thanks to a low and central mass was one of Yamaha’s key design goals. You’ll notice the effects straight away – the superb balance and agility you feel at slow speeds and on loose surfaces, and the light, quick steering as you flick the bike effortlessly through switchback corners on mountain roads.

Intelligent Unified Brake System + ABS

The smart ABS system predicts when the wheels are about to slide and smoothly intervenes. And the Unified Brake System lets you choose between braking both wheels with just the front lever, or controlling each wheel by touching the rear brake pedal first. Together they deliver exceptional control in a wide range of riding conditions.

Tough spoked, tubeless aluminium rims

For reliable performance over the toughest off-road obstacles, the Super Ténéré runs spoked, tubeless aluminium rims. The narrow front rim features two Double T-type rails at the rim end of the spokes, letting the spokes cross over further to help generate the rigidity you need for agile on-road handling.

Adjustable seat height

Adjustable seat height. Adjust the seat height between 845mm - 870mm to suit your height and your riding position preferences.

Attention to detail

Everywhere you look the Super Ténéré exudes detail. New for the XT1200Z are the LED front and rear indicators, as well as the height adjustable screen and new lightweight alloy side-stand.

Set it and enjoy the ride

Built right into the Super Ténéré is a new cruise control system that is operated by the rider's left thumb via an new ergonomic switch-block.
